The department is committed to building diagnostic competency, biosafety awareness, and a scientific understanding of microbial pathogens relevant to animal and public health.

Academic Mandate

The department imparts teaching in:

  • Veterinary Bacteriology
  • Veterinary Virology
  • Veterinary Mycology
  • Immunology and Serology
  • Basic Molecular Diagnostic Techniques

The department focuses on laboratory-based teaching, microbial diagnostics, biosafety, and disease investigation.

Infrastructure and Facilities

Facilities include:

  • Bacteriology Laboratory
  • Virology Laboratory
  • Mycology Laboratory
  • Immunology and Serology Laboratory
  • Molecular Biology Laboratory
  • PCR and RT-PCR Facilities
  • ELISA and Gel Electrophoresis Units

Extension and Diagnostic Support

The department participates in diagnostic support, laboratory demonstrations, and academic training activities. It actively supports the Veterinary Clinics in diagnostic procedures, contributing to disease investigation and pathogen identification for improved animal healthcare outcomes.
